Lexus LF-NX Compact

Lexus is prepared to go to battle with the other competitors in the crossover class with its own soldier. We must say that the Lexus LF-NX Compact wears Lexus’ courageous L-finesse styling language pretty good. The IS’s unique spindle grille, futuristic fenders and black-trimmed wheel arches are a lot more daring than the Nytol-inspired RX’s lines. The cabin is designed for concept duty, with the display up high and controls placed lower. All in all, it’s obvious that Lexus designers have carried trough their futuristic visions into reality.

Lexus LF-NX Compact review

Further evolution of Lexus’ L-finesse design language is obvious. The Lexus LF-NX Compact has a daring, impressive and innovative exterior that brings a more distinctive and sculpted styling to the premium compact crossover segment for the first time. The front of the LF-NX is dominated by a strong futuristic design of the Lexus spindle grille. To highlight the vehicle’s wide front track and powerful stance, the chrome trim and grille mesh pattern increase in size as the grille widens through the lower bumper zone.

The upper corners of the grille generate strong lines which define the hood edges, while the base is underlined with a chrome-finished undertray. The “mean alien robot” style front lighting features 3 diamond-shaped LED headlights and the independent Daytime Running Lights. The DRLs are underlined with full-length LED strip turn signal lamps. The front and rear wings are shaped from a series of muscular, concave and convex lines, while the wheel arches incorporate black painted trim, giving the vehicle an urban crossover look. The back of the LF-NX is dominated by highly articulated lamp clusters which give the car a recognizable light signature.

Lexus LF-NX Compact interior

Opposite to the overwhelming and daring exterior, the interior of the LF-NX is more minimalist. Sunrise Yellow and Black leather are interrupted by splashes of bright metal and deep blue lighting. A large panel in front of the shifter is equipped with, ribs separating, different touch-sensitive electrostatic controls, while the Lexus’s Remote Touch mouse interface lives in the center console. The overall look is sporty and modern, without old-school-luxury style that characterizes Lexus vehicles. The brain of Lexus interior design is the Intuitive interaction with the vehicle’s switchgear, instrumentation and Human Machine Interface (HMI) technology, and the Lexus LF-NX Compact cabin offers the ideal, upper display zone and lower operation zone dashboard format.

The upper display zone also features an exclusive driver’s instrument meter design, while the lower operation zone allows access to a new generation of touch-sensitive, electrostatic switches on door trim, and the new Lexus Remote Touch Interface. This interface combines a touch tracer display with a new touch pad design for smooth and intuitive use, and an adjustable arm rest support.
