There were a lot of rumors which were saying that Avensis will not be produced anymore. But, Toyota doesn’t agree with those rumors. As a matter of fact, the 2016 Toyota Avensis was spotted on the streets of Southern Europe, during testing. Even though it was heavily camouflaged, the changes that are made on this 2016 model were visible. It is still not completely known if the upcoming Avensis will get a facelift or full redesign, but some information about the changes are already available.
The exterior changes are visible even when the 2016 Toyota Avensis is completely covered in camouflage. The body structure, in general, is pretty much unchanged. The most of the changes for the 2016 model will be made on the front end. The Grille and headlights will have a different design when compared with the previous model. However, the car experts are divided into 2 groups when the question of the intensity of changes is concerned. One one side there are those who say that new model year will bring a new generation of the Avensis, while the others suggest that Toyota prepared only a minor facelift. We know that it is still too early to judge, but judged by the test mule, we have to agree with the facelift opinion for the moment. Tail lights will also be refreshed and modernized, which will additionally change the overall look of the new Avensis.
As far as the interior is concerned, little is known for now. Alongside the fact that the 2016 model year will bring several upgrades, it is unclear if Toyota will decide to redesign the dash arrangement, or the upgrades will be applied on materials and features, instead of the design. One thing is certain, both sedan and wagon body types will still be available.
Under the hood of the 2016 Toyota Avensis multiple changes and innovative solutions are expected. Toyota has not still confirmed if the current engine will be carried over to the 2016 model or not. The current Avensis has a various lineup of engines, which include both petrol and diesel units. This trend is expected for the new model as well. Few petrol and diesel units will be available, and a hybrid variant will be included. Although the specifications of the engines are not known yet, no major changes in numbers are expected, when it comes to hp and torque. The fuel economy is the first priority for the Toyota engineers when the new Avensis is concerned. That section of 2016 Avensis’s performances will be on a very high level, so the drivers that are looking for a real fuel-saving vehicle will celebrate the coming of this model.
2016 Toyota Avensis Release date and price
The release of the 2016 Toyota Avensis is not expected before the end of this year. Since the spotted test mule indicates that the model is still in early phases of development, it will probably be available for buying at the beginning of 2016. The price of the current model is around $28000, the amount of the money needed for the 2016 model shouldn’t be much higher than that. The starting price for the new Avensis is expected to be just under $30,000.
